New Trailers - Tighten Your Lug Nuts
Tighten your new trailer’s lug nuts again after each of these intervals: 25-50 miles, 100 miles, 200-300 miles.After that, tighten again every 3000-5000 miles, after tire rotations and seasonally (after winter storage).

Periodic Maintenance
To get the most life out of your trailer, this is what we recommend you do to take care of your investment. (Or you can watch this video on YouTube!)Each use:
- Test trailer lights and brakes
- Check coupler, safety chains, breakaway cable and wiring plug
- Check hitch for damage and fractures every time you hook up
- Check tire pressure
- Check tires – pressure, uneven wear, dry rot, tread depth
- Clean off dirt, mud and road salt
- Inspect ramps, gate hatches, hinges and bolts
- Lubricate coupler latch and jack, any other moving parts, tighten loose bolts
- Inspect electric brakes/surge brakes
- Inspect leaf springs, u-bolts, equalizers and shackles for wear/cracking
- Grease axle wheel bearings should be cleaned, inspected and repacked with high-quality grease every 4 years or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first. Oil axle wheel bearings should be cleaned, inspected and repacked every 2 years or 30,000 miles, whichever comes first. Boat trailers: If they go in water, we recommend yearly service! If your trailer sees daily or heavy-duty use inspect every 6 months. Signs of worn bearings include humming, squealing or loose wheels.
- Undercoat your vehicle’s undercarriage to limit rust caused by road salt and dirt
- Full safety inspection (we offer this!)
- Replace tires due to age-related rubber deterioration
